Nia Gumbs
Nia graduated in the Summer of 2021 from Florida International University where she received her Master's in Disaster Management and is working with a consulting firm in the United States. In her career she hopes to contribute to building more resilient communities against natural, man-made, and technological hazards. Some words to describe Nia are ambitious, giving, and forward looking. She never fails to get involved in something new and is willing to volunteer and always share information with others.
Born and raised in St. Thomas, she frequently visits St. Kitts & Nevis where she has seen the Federation transform. As she gets involved with the Caines Family Foundation, she hopes to follow in the footsteps of her grandfather Richard Caines Sr., a founding member., to contribute to the prosperity, growth, and future of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Nia has always been committed to service and helping people advance their education. In her senior year of her undergraduate career at St. John's University, Nia served as the student government Treasurer where she managed a $1.1 million budget. Currently, Nia serves as the treasurer of a startup non-profit which focuses on making the Emergency Management profession more visible and accessible.
